How to Use Seedance 2.0: Prompting and Multi-Shot Video

Seedance 2.0 is a multimodal video model that turns prompts and reference media into expressive clips with synchronized audio. It is especially useful when the scene depends on movement, dialogue, sound, or several shots inside one generation.

The Seedance 2.0 prompt structure
Build the prompt in five layers:
- Subject and action.
- Environment and lighting.
- Camera and framing.
- Style and mood.
- Audio and dialogue.
Example:
A street food vendor flips a dumpling in a hot pan at a busy night market. Steam catches the lantern light, the camera starts in a medium side profile and pushes closer as the vendor smiles at camera. Warm documentary color, realistic hand movement, sizzling oil and distant market chatter. The vendor says, "Fresh from the pan!" with a quick laugh.
The prompt gives the model a physical action, a setting, a camera move, an aesthetic, and a soundscape. That is more useful than adding a long list of vague style words.
Make physical motion specific
Seedance 2.0 is a good fit for expressive movement. Describe what moves and what causes the movement:
- A jacket flares as the dancer spins.
- Water sprays outward when the shoe lands.
- A heavy door slows before it closes.
- A hand grips the railing as the camera follows.
Physical consequences make a shot easier to interpret. “A person moves dramatically” is abstract. “The coat catches the wind as the person turns into the street” gives the model a visible event.
Write dialogue for lip-sync
Put spoken lines in quotation marks and stage how they are delivered:
A chef leans over the pass, points to a plated dish, and calls out, "Table seven is ready!" with confident energy. Pans clatter, a ticket printer clicks, and the kitchen hums under the line.
Keep dialogue short. Describe the voice and the surrounding sound instead of writing a long script inside a short clip.
Create a multi-shot sequence
Seedance 2.0 can cut between beats in a single generation. Number the shots:
Three-shot sequence:
1. Close-up of a paper lantern being lit at dusk.
2. Wide shot as it rises into a sky filled with hundreds of lanterns.
3. The camera lifts to reveal the festival crowd below.
Keep warm strings and soft crowd ambience continuous across the cuts.
Give each shot one camera setup. Keep one subject, sound, or visual detail as the through-line so the sequence feels like one story.
Use reference media when the prompt is not enough
Seedance 2.0 can use images, video clips, and audio references. Bring them into the prompt with clear roles:
Use image 1 for the product shape, image 2 for the color palette, and the video reference for the camera movement. Keep the product proportions unchanged while moving the scene from the studio into a bright outdoor cafe.

A quick review checklist
After generation, check:
- Is the main action visible from beginning to end?
- Does the camera movement finish naturally?
- Does the subject stay consistent?
- Is the dialogue synchronized?
- Does the audio match the physical scene?
- Does the final frame give you a usable edit point?
If the action is right but the camera is wrong, change the camera instruction first. If the subject drifts, add a reference or state what must stay unchanged.
