Photorealistic scene prompts

Nano Banana models excel at grounded, believable photography. These prompts specify subject, lighting, lens feel, and mood so the result reads as a photo rather than a render.

Photorealistic portrait of a ceramicist in her sunlit studio, clay dust in the air, hands resting on a half-thrown bowl, shallow depth of field, warm morning window light, 85mm lens feel

Naming a lens feel ('85mm') and one light source is the fastest way to get a photographic look instead of a render.

Street photography of a rainy Tokyo crossing at night, umbrellas catching neon reflections, motion blur in the crowd, one figure in a yellow raincoat sharp in the center

One sharp anchor subject against described motion blur gives the model a clear focal hierarchy.

Golden hour aerial photograph of terraced rice fields, water mirrors reflecting the sky, a single farmer walking the ridge line, soft haze in the valleys

Reflective surfaces plus a tiny human figure for scale are reliable ingredients for striking landscape shots.

Overcast editorial photo of a lighthouse on a basalt cliff, waves exploding white against black rock, muted palette, heavy grain, documentary mood

Asking for a muted palette and grain steers away from the oversaturated default look.

Image editing prompts

Natural-language editing is the Nano Banana family's signature. Attach your photo in VideoGen, then describe the change you want in plain words.

Change the background to a clean studio gray, keep the subject's lighting and shadows consistent, preserve every detail of the face and clothing

Telling the model what to preserve matters as much as the change itself. Name the elements that must not move.

Make this daytime street photo look like blue hour just after sunset: warm shop windows glowing, sky deep blue, streetlights on, wet pavement reflections

Time-of-day edits work best when you describe the light sources that switch on, not just the sky color.

Remove the crowd from the background, extend the beach and sea naturally, keep the two people in the foreground exactly as they are

Removal prompts need a fill instruction ('extend the beach and sea') so the model knows what replaces the crowd.

Restore this old scanned photograph: repair scratches and creases, rebuild faded colors to natural skin tones, keep the original film grain and era feel

Restoration reads more authentic when you explicitly keep the grain and period character instead of over-cleaning.

Text and typography prompts

Legible, multilingual text rendering is Nano Banana Pro's standout strength. Put the exact copy in quotes and describe the layout like a designer would.

Minimal concert poster with the headline 'MIDNIGHT ORBIT' in tall condensed sans-serif, supporting line 'Live at the Observatory, June 21', deep navy background with a thin gold ellipse motif

Quote the exact copy and name the type style. Nano Banana Pro renders the words you specify, not approximations.

Cafe menu board design titled 'Morning Menu', five items with prices in aligned columns, warm cream background, hand-painted chalk lettering style, small coffee illustrations between sections

Dense layouts like menus are a Pro-tier strength. Describe the alignment ('aligned columns') to keep rows clean.

Product packaging mockup for a tea tin labeled 'First Flush Darjeeling' with Japanese subtitle text, botanical line illustrations, matte sage green, centered symmetrical layout

Multilingual copy on packaging is a hard case most models fail; state the language of each text element explicitly.

Infographic titled 'How Coffee Gets Its Flavor' with four labeled stages, numbered icons, short captions under each, clean editorial style, off-white background, single accent color

Give infographics a fixed count of stages and captions so the layout stays organized and the text stays legible.

Product and brand prompts

Studio-quality product photography without the studio. Swap the bracketed product for your own, and attach reference photos in VideoGen when identity must match exactly.

Studio hero shot of [a matte ceramic pour-over kettle] on a travertine pedestal, soft directional light from the left, gentle shadow falloff, neutral beige backdrop, high-end catalog style

One pedestal, one light direction, one material word for the backdrop is the most reliable premium-catalog recipe.

Lifestyle shot of [a canvas weekender bag] on the passenger seat of a vintage car, morning light through the windshield, road map and sunglasses beside it, warm nostalgic grade

Two supporting props maximum. More props dilute the product and invite composition errors.

Flat lay of [a skincare set of three bottles] on wet slate with water droplets, sprigs of eucalyptus, soft overhead light, cool spa palette, symmetrical arrangement

Flat lays reward explicit geometry: say symmetrical or diagonal so the arrangement does not drift.

Seasonal ad visual: [a glass perfume bottle] half-buried in fresh snow catching low winter sun, long blue shadows, sparkling frost detail, crisp editorial style

Seasonal context shots work when the environment interacts with the product (snow on glass, frost detail).

How to write prompts for Nano Banana Pro

  1. Structure prompts like a photo brief

The most reliable Nano Banana prompt order is subject, setting, lighting, camera or composition, then style and quality notes. You do not need every layer every time, but keeping the order makes iteration predictable.

  2. Quote any text you want rendered

Nano Banana Pro renders the exact words you put in quotation marks, including multilingual copy. Specify the type style and layout (condensed sans-serif, aligned columns) the way you would brief a designer.

  3. Say what must stay the same

For edits, the preserve instruction is half the prompt. 'Keep the subject's lighting and shadows consistent' prevents the model from regenerating parts of the image you wanted untouched.

  4. Use references for identity

When a character or product must look identical across images, attach reference photos in VideoGen instead of over-describing in words. The Nano Banana family maintains identity from references far better than from text alone.

  5. Escalate quality tiers as you lock the idea

Explore compositions on a fast tier, then rerun the winning prompt on a higher tier for the final asset. In VideoGen the credit cost of each tier is shown before you commit.
